FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has announced that the 2020-21 season start will be postponed until 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Concerts previously scheduled for the remainder of 2020 have been canceled out of concern for the health and safety of patrons, musicians and staff.

How long will the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra not perform?
Our current plan calls for suspending all concerts and events through January 31, 2021. The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s management and Board of Directors will regularly reassess the reopening date based on new information as it becomes available.

What is happening to all of the concerts you had scheduled for upcoming season?
Many of the programs scheduled for the first half of the 2020-2021 season are unable to be replicated in the rest of the year. However, the previously planned programming may be included in future seasons. Canceled concerts can be found below.

What does this mean for the KSO musicians and staff?
All KSO musicians will be furloughed beginning August 31, and will remain so through January 31, 2021. Seven KSO administrative staff members will also be furloughed and the remaining staff will take pay cuts.

I am a season ticket holder, what happens to my tickets?
Each subscriber is given the opportunity to donate the value of the canceled concerts to the KSO or request a refund. The KSO Box Office is hard at work completing donations and issuing refunds. Subscribers must fill out this form if they wish to donate the price of the canceled concerts to keeping the KSO afloat in these challenging times.  Please submit all request digitally through the form linked above. Please allow three weeks to receive these funds.

Will you be holding your annual fundraising events, like the Symphony Ball?
We are currently exploring options for our fundraising events, the proceeds of which will help the KSO recuperate lost profits from the 2020-2021 season. Information will be updated on the Annual Symphony Ball page once more information becomes available.

How can I help the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra?
Please consider supporting the KSO by donating here. We are so appreciative for the outpouring of support the KSO has received in these challenging times, as every gift received brings us one step closer to creating more music in the spring.
