Jessica Findley Yang, from Wichita, Kansas, holds the position of Second Bassoon in the Knoxville Symphony, and she is currently the Acting Principal Bassoon. Previously, she has held the positions of Second Bassoon in the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera and the Lansing Symphony Orchestra (Michigan). She earned degrees from the University of Kansas and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and her primary teachers have included Eric Stomberg and William Winstead.
Jessica has attended summer music festivals including Shippensburg Symphony Festival, Festival Napa Valley, Sarasota Music Festival, Castleton Music Festival, and the Texas Music Festival, where she was the winner of the TMF concerto competition. She has been a guest performer with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, New World Symphony, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Jessica is the faculty bassoon instructor at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and was previously the bassoon instructor at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also maintains a private teaching studio in Knoxville. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys reading cookbooks and trying new recipes, hiking with her husband, and playing with her two cats Pepper and Chips.
