Alice Stuart

Biography

A native of Knoxville, Stuart started her cello playing with Corrine Rhodes at Cedar Bluff elementary school. Her private cello studies in high school were with the late Phyllis Steen who was also a long-time member of the Symphony. She joined the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in 1982 just after the World’s Fair ended. Additionally, she is a charter member of the Dogwood Strings which formed in the mid-80’s and performs many weddings around the area. After graduating college in 1982 with a Bachelors degree in Biology from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, she worked for 10 years at the University of Tennessee in research labs including biochemistry and pathobiology at the Veterinary School. In 1994, Stuart completed a Masters degree in Nursing from UT and currently works as a Nurse Practitioner with Covenant Health at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. She loves to travel, swim, boat, hike, camp and play in her greenhouse. Her home is in Maryville with her loving rescued blonde Labrador Retriever, Bailey.
