Bill Pierce
Biography
Bill Pierce is originally from Setauket, N.Y., and first came to Knoxville to play viola in the pit band for the “Sing Tennessee” show at the 1982 World’s Fair. He performed several concerts with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra during the summer of 1982, but he assumed his current full-time core position in the fall of 1983. He studied viola in New York where he attended Queens College, Manhattan School of Music, and the Juilliard School. Before coming to Knoxville he taught viola in Venezuela. In addition to his work in the KSO, he does freelance computer technical support and serves as the webmaster for the Knoxville Musicians’ Association Local #546, and for the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.
