Biography

Mark Tucker holds performance degrees from the Universityof Tennessee and the Manhattan School of Music.  He has studied clarinet and saxophone with Douglas Masek, Ed Bingham, William Scarlett, Jerry Coker, Kalmen Opperman, and Joe Allard.

Mark joined the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra as bass clarinetist in 1988 and became second clarinet in 1994.  In addition to playing in the orchestra, he is also the Personnel Manager and Librarian.  He has also performed with the Asheville Symphony, Oak Ridge Symphony, and the Music From Bear Valley Festival Orchestra.

In addition to his work with the Knoxville Symphony, Mark has performed extensively as a saxophonist.  He has toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under the direction of Buddy Morrow and the Charlie Spivak Orchestra.  Mark currently performs with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra as lead alto saxophonist.
