Young Musician Opportunity Fund

For 50 years, the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestras have provided young musicians across East Tennessee invaluable opportunities to rehearse, practice, and perform together under the auspices of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. These talented young musicians have gone on to successful careers not only in music, but in a variety of fields, leaning on the discipline, artistry, creativity, and commitment they developed during their time with the KSYO.

The impact of musical training is tremendous, but for many students, the KSYO offers their only opportunity for serious playing. To ensure the most talented young musicians in East Tennessee receive the support they need to find success, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra is proud to launch a campaign to raise $100,000 to establish a permanently endowed Young Musician Opportunity Fund. This fund will continue to grow year after year and will provide financial support for summer enrichment activities. Whether that’s support for a musician to attend a prestigious summer music program, to receive lessons with KSO musicians or renowned professors, or to participate in smaller workshops held across the country, this fund will have a meaningful impact on the future of the KSYO’s most talented students.

About the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra

Celebrating its 50th season, The Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestras (KSYO) has trained the most talented musicians in the region. Comprising six ensembles – five string orchestras and one full orchestra – the KSYO engages over 300 members each season. Our members are coached by Knoxville Symphony Orchestra musicians, providing technical and musical training during weekly rehearsals. All of our ensembles perform three yearly concerts at the Historic Tennessee Theatre. Learn More.
