Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect or prepare for before my visit?
All venues now require patrons to be subject to a bag search and electronic wanding before entering the concert hall. No backpacks, weapons of any kind including pocket knives, or outside food or drink will be permitted. Please allow plenty of time to park downtown and go through security. Remember to bring your tickets!
What should I wear to a Knoxville Symphony Orchestra concert?
Contrary to what many people think, formal attire such as tuxedos and evening gowns is not required at symphony concerts. Most concertgoers wear business, business casual or cocktail attire.
How long will the concert be?
Concert length varies, but most orchestra concerts are approximately two hours long, with an intermission at the halfway point.
What if I've lost my tickets?
If you have lost or misplaced your tickets to a particular concert, please contact the KSO Box Office in advance at 865-291-3310. The Box Office can provide you with reprinted tickets, which can be picked up just prior to the concert.
Can I exchange my tickets for another concert?
Exchanging tickets to a future concert is a benefit given to season subscribers. Exchanges must be requested prior to 4:00 p.m on the day of the concert. (For Pops concerts which take place on Saturdays, and Chamber concerts which take place on Sundays, requests must be received by 4:00 p.m. on the Friday before the concert.) Patrons may also contact the box office to donate tickets in exchange for a tax-deductible donation.
The KSO box office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets held by non-season subscribers may not be exchanged for other concerts at any time. No refunds will be given at any time under any circumstances.
Should I bring the kids?
Children are welcome at all performances. However, our regular subscription concerts may be too long for young children and are not recommended for those under the age of 5. The Holiday Concerts and Library Story Time program are designed to entertain children and families. Tickets are required for children ages 2 and up. For more information about bringing your child to the symphony, learn about our Penny 4 Arts program.
Are the concert venues handicap accessible?
The KSO and each of our venues (Tennessee Theatre, Bijou Theatre, Civic Auditorium) are all handicap accessible with handicap seating available in each venue. Patrons are encouraged to contact the KSO box office with specific questions or individual seating needs.
